SAR Submission Information


The editors of South Atlantic Review welcome submissions of scholarly essays concerned with the study of language, literature, rhetoric and composition, and other topics of scholarly concern.  Essays may be in any language and those in languages other than English are encouraged.  Essays are reviewed by the editorial staff and, if initially accepted, are refereed by external reviewers.  Final publication decision is made by the editorial staff. Writers will be notified in writing of the final decision.  Below are the specific requirements for submission: 

  • Writers must be a current SAMLA member (membership information is available on the website under the Membership link from the SAMLA homepage)
  • Essays should be no longer than 7,500 words
  • Essays must conform to the MLA citation style pursuant to MLA Handbook for Writers of Research Papers
  • The author’s name cannot appear in the manuscript, only on the title page.
  • Essays should be submitted via email to Editor Matthew Roudané at engmcr@langate.gsu.edu and/or samla@gsu.edu.
  • Submissions are also accepted via regular mail.  Send three copies of the manuscript to South Atlantic Review, Georgia State University, Department of English, 38 Peachtree Center Avenue, Room 923, Atlanta, Georgia 30303. If possible, please include a disk with a copy of the essay.

Call for Papers for Special Issues 

On occasion, South Atlantic Review includes calls for papers for special issues within its journal and on selected Listservs.  Please follow the submission requirements set forth in the call for papers designated by the special editor of the issue. 
 
Special Issue Proposals

The editors of South Atlantic Review also consider proposals for special issues.  If you have a special issue proposal, please direct your inquiry to Editor Matthew Roudané, engmcr@langate.gsu.edu.
