Born in Philadelphia in 1930, playwright, novelist, and short story writer Romulus Linney has taught at The University of Pennsylvania, Columbia University, and The Actors Studio Program at The New School University. Some of his best-known plays are "Heathen Valley," "Gynt," and "Holy Ghosts."
His novels include Heathen Valley, Slowly, By Thy Hand Unfurled, and Jesus Tales.
Among his many awards are two Obies (one for Sustained Excellence in Playwriting), two National Critics Awards, and the American Academy of Arts and Letters (to which he was elected in 2002) Award in Literature and Award of Merit Medal for Drama.
