Graduate Student Essay Prize

The Graduate Student Essay Prize seeks to honor a graduate student for excellence in scholarly presentation. Nominations are welcome from session chairs or attendees who have identified a graduate student presenting an exceptional paper at the annual SAMLA Convention. The prize includes a $250 honorarium, a complimentary convention registration for the year following the presentation, and the selected paper will be printed in South Atlantic Review. A nomination is made by completing a nomination form and forwarding it to the SAMLA office. Nominations are accepted after the convention through March 15th. The SAMLA office will correspond with nominees to request a copy of the paper for review by the Graduate Student Essay Prize Committee. (A finalized paper must be submitted by March 31st.) The winning submission is determined by a blind review by the Graduate Student Prize Selection Committee. The winner will be announced in August and the award will be given at the convention the year following the paper presentation.
