Committees

 

Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is the governing body of SAMLA made up of four officers, six representative from the membership, the editor of South Atlantic Review, and the executive director. The committee meets in the fall and spring each year.

 

The Nominating Committee is chaired by the past President of SAMLA. The committee presents a slate of executive committee nominees annually to the membership.

 

The Finance Committee, chaired by the first Vice President of SAMLA, provides support for preparation of the annual financial report and budgets.

 

The SAMLA Studies Award Committee selects an outstanding scholarly book annually as the recipient of the award.

 

The SAR Prize Selection Committee selects one essay from the journal published in the year of the annual convention as the recipient of an award for exceptional scholarship.

 

The Graduate Student Essay Prize Committee selects annually a paper presented by a graduate student at the convention as the recipient of an award.

 

Honorary Members Committee

The Honorary Member Committee nominates distinguished writers, scholars, and SAMLA members to as candidates to for the recognitions as an honorary member.

 

Program Committee

The Program Committee works to develop the sessions and events at the annual convention.

 

Harper Fund Committee

The Harper Fund Committee awards graduate students travel grants annually for conference attendence.
